¶ Staff Agreement
How tips reach you, directly.
Last updated May 16, 2026
What TipLobby does for you
TipLobby is a technology platform that allows residents of your building to send cashless tips directly to you. When a resident allocates a tip, the funds are transferred to your Stripe Express account — the account you set up during onboarding. TipLobby acts as an intermediary technology layer; your building or employer does not handle tip funds.
TipLobby acts as your agent of collection solely for the purpose of receiving and routing tip payments from residents. TipLobby does not employ you and tips are not wages.
Platform fee
TipLobby deducts a $1.00 flat fee plus 2%of the tip amount from each tip you receive. This fee covers platform operations and payment processing overhead. The fee is applied per tip, not per session — if a resident tips three staff members at once, each person's fee is calculated independently on their share.
Here is how the fee affects common tip amounts:
| Tip to you | Platform fee | You receive |
|---|---|---|
| $25.00 | $1.50 ($1.00 + $0.50) | $23.50 |
| $50.00 | $2.00 ($1.00 + $1.00) | $48.00 |
| $100.00 | $3.00 ($1.00 + $2.00) | $97.00 |
Stripe Connect Express account
To receive tips, you must create a Stripe Express account during onboarding. By creating that account, you agree to Stripe's Connect Account Agreement and its Services Agreement. Stripe requires identity verification (legal name, date of birth, last four digits of SSN, and bank account details) to comply with U.S. Know Your Customer regulations. TipLobby does not see or store this information — it is submitted directly to Stripe.
Stripe will pay out tips to the bank account on file on their standard payout schedule (typically 2 business days after receipt). Stripe may hold funds in certain circumstances in accordance with their policies.
Taxes
Tips received through TipLobby may be taxable income. You are responsible for understanding and meeting your tax obligations. TipLobby will issue a 1099-K form through Stripe if your total receipts in a calendar year meet IRS reporting thresholds. Consult a tax professional if you have questions.
SMS messaging
SMS notifications are optional. After your Stripe account is submitted, you will be asked whether you want text message updates. If you select “Yes, text me too,” you consent to receive transactional SMS from TipLobby, including:
- Sign-in passcodes (OTP) when you log in
- Tip received notifications
If you decline, you will still receive the same notifications by email. You can opt into SMS later by contacting support. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Reply HELP for support. See our SMS consent page for complete details.
Your obligations
- Keep your Stripe Express account information current, including your bank account details.
- Notify your account manager if your role at the building changes or if you leave.
- Do not attempt to manipulate the tipping system (e.g., by coordinating false tips or submitting tips on your own behalf).
- Do not share your TipLobby sign-in credentials with others.
Termination
Either you or your account manager may remove you from TipLobby at any time. Upon removal, you will no longer receive tips via the platform. Tips already processed and pending in your Stripe Express account will still be paid out per Stripe's normal schedule.
Limitation of liability
TipLobby is provided "as is." We are not liable for Stripe payment delays, withheld payouts, or tax liability arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of TipLobby is limited to the fees (if any) you paid to TipLobby in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Governing law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes shall be resolved by binding arbitration under AAA Commercial Rules, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court.
