What we collect, and why.
Last updated May 15, 2026
Who we are
TipLobby is a tipping platform for residential building staff, operated at tiplobby.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the platform as a building manager, a staff member, or a resident, and how we handle that information.
Information we collect
- Account info: name, email address, and (for staff members) mobile phone number, role, and the building you are associated with.
- Payment info: handled by Stripe Connect. TipLobby never sees or stores card numbers or bank account numbers. Stripe collects KYC information (legal name, date of birth, partial SSN, bank routing details) directly from staff during onboarding.
- Usage data: pages viewed, actions taken, error reports — used to operate and debug the service.
How we use SMS data
Phone numbers are collected for one purpose: sending transactional SMS messages required to operate the platform. Specifically:
- Sign-in passcodes (OTP): staff members receive a one-time passcode by SMS when they sign in.
- Tip received notifications: when a resident sends a tip, the recipient gets a notification SMS.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with our SMS delivery provider for the purpose of delivering the messages above. Message and data rates may apply.
You can opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP to any TipLobby message. Reply HELP for support. See our SMS consent page for the full opt-in flow.
How we use other information
We use the information we collect to operate the tipping platform, process payments through Stripe, send the transactional notifications described above, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers acting on our behalf — including a payment processor, an email delivery provider, and database and application hosting providers — and only the minimum each provider needs to perform its function. Phone numbers are shared with our SMS delivery provider, Twilio, solely to deliver the transactional messages described above.
We do not sell personal information.
Data retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Payment records are retained as required by financial regulations (generally 7 years). If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Your privacy rights (California residents — CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you specific rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to know / access: request a copy of the personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months, including categories, sources, and purposes.
- Right to delete: request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal retention obligations and other exceptions under the CCPA.
- Right to correct: request that we correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is nothing to opt out of.
- Right to non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising any CCPA rights.
To submit a verifiable consumer request, email privacy@tiplobby.com with the subject line "CCPA Privacy Request". We will respond within 45 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request.
